The Books team is looking for a Senior Product Manager to drive key initiatives and marketing for Amazon Student, a new, free membership program that offers exclusive promotions and discounts available only to students. As a Product Manager, you will shape the success of Amazon Student by developing and driving the our overall strategy, improving the customer experience for students across Amazon’s website, implementing marketing initiatives, and partnering with cross-functional teams to define business and product requirements. In addition to partnering with a number of cross-functional groups, you will be responsible for managing a team of 2 people.
The scope for this role includes the following:
Business Management
- Identify and define opportunities for growth and strategic partnership. Document and present strategies to senior management
- Oversee planning and management Amazon Student marketing initiatives
- Define measures of success for this growing business including consumer satisfaction, customer lifetime value and return on marketing investment
- Develop key metrics and performance indicators to measure overall financial performance and provide foundation for continuous improvement.
Product and Program Management
- Work with internal Books category leaders and software development teams to design, build and maintain features to improve the customer experience for students.
- Own and manage the product feature roadmap for Amazon Student. Be accountable for driving the entire product feature lifecycle from requirements definition through integration, launch, and post launch analysis.
Merchandising and Marketing
- Drive awareness and adoption of Amazon Student through online and offline marketing initiatives
- Manage onsite merchandising and email marketing programs, including SEO/SEM.
Qualifications
Candidates must have excellent judgment and prioritization skills, the ability to create and sustain urgency coupled with a passion for business, technology and delivering a world-class customer experience. They must also be highly analytical and creative, capable of utilizing in-depth business metrics and developing and driving core opportunities with all relevant cross-functional areas. Ideal candidates will have an MBA and/or 5-7+ years equivalent demonstrated work experience, strong business judgment, superb communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to resolve conflicts and set priorities, and outstanding customer insight.
Ideal candidates will also be expected to show strength in all or most of the following:
- Excellent understanding of marketing strategies, especially digital and retail
- Direct experience with online retail and defining and delivering features
- History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
- Ability to define projects for developers, and work closely with technical teams
- Ability to think strategically and execute methodically
- Ability to interpret data and make business recommendations
- Superior verbal and written communications skills.
