Job Description

Amazon.com is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Development Manager to head up Amazon Student, a membership program that offers FREE Two-Day Shipping and exclusive promotions to college students.  You will own defining our strategy and managing all aspects of the program, which includes product management, building a dedicated development team, and managing the financial results of the program.

 

The ideal candidate must be able to think and act both strategically and tactically, and manage a team to flawlessly deliver a compelling customer experience and comprehensive set of benefits across both the website and mobile apps.  He or she should be innovative, leadership and team oriented, and an effective communicator.  You must excel in managing and navigating cross-functional efforts, have experience managing both a product management and development team, and be adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into high quality, simple products and features that customers love.  The candidate will need to be a smart risk taker, who can deliver big ideas as well as transform them into scalable programs.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Define the strategy and direction for the Amazon Student program, including member benefits and customer experience
  • Build and lead a team, including product management, software development, user-experience design and business intelligence, to understand customer behavior and develop compelling program features
  • Define and monitor the appropriate measures of success including the program P&L along with acquisition, conversion and retention metrics
  • Collaborate with various organizations across Amazon, including Finance, Prime, Advertising, Marketing, Customer Service and Retail Category Leaders
  • Partner with Marketing in the development of the Amazon Student editorial voice and brand positioning
  • Work with customer research to drive insights into customer segments and shopping behaviors.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of experience developing customer-facing, online retail products or services
  • Experience building and managing strong teams, including product management and technical staff
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing mobile applications and services
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Master’s degree
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and recommendations
