Job Description

The rapidly growing Disc on Demand (DOD) department of Amazon helps large media companies and content libraries publish their content on the DOD platform, which makes content available for sale on DVD and via digital download on Amazon.com.  Our content providers include major movie studios, television networks, video distributors, talent agencies, independent producers and large aggregators of content.

 

The DOD Product Manager reports to the Senior Manager of Disc on Demand and is responsible for aggressively building our business with existing content providers, developing requirements and roadmaps for large cross-functional projects, and partnering with manufacturing and operations on key priorities. The DOD Product Manager will also partner cross-functionally with the Music Product Manager and the Movies business team to drive improvements for customer experience on Amazon.com.

 

The DOD Product Manager currently manages a team of two Enterprise Account Managers who own our top-tier client relationships, from receiving initial delivery of assets to ensuring that completed DVD titles are posted on Amazon. Core functions of this position include:

 

  • Develop plans to increase revenue and margin
  • Work with Account Managers to acquire incremental titles
  • Prioritize content processing based on required speed-to-market
  • Ensure that vendors projects are managed and implemented on time
  • Act as a business manager - analyze results and proactively make recommendations
  • Ensure vendor satisfaction and business success by driving both day to day projects and long-term initiatives to optimize each vendors business
  • Interface effectively with internal development teams
  • Provide feedback to the Manufacture-on-Demand (MOD) team to drive technology and operational improvements.

 

 



Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of demonstrated results as a Product Manager or related position in a tech related or e-commerce environment
  • A self-sufficient leader with a demonstrated bias for action
  • Experience managing a high-performance team and driving results
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional environment as well as experience in data management
  • Ability to credibly coordinate between teams of technical resources and business stakeholders, as well as have an understanding of the technology, systems, processes that will be utilized in achieving program objectives
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with strong product and program management skills
  • Advanced knowledge with all MS Office tools including Excel and Access
  • Technical aptitude and familiarity with the design and utilization of complex item and inventory management systems
  • BS/BA degree required.
