Gift Card Product Manager

Amazon.com's Gift Card business represent a fast growing, multi-hundred million dollar business which significantly contributes to the company’s profitability. As a result of strong business growth, we are expanding our team. The Gift Card (GC) team is responsible for creating and enhancing multiple related products sold globally through a variety of channels including the Amazon website, corporate sales, retail stores, and other partnerships.

 

The Product Manager - Gift Cards is responsible for Amazon’s Gift Card products including product strategy, product enhancements, business development, merchandising and financial projections. As Product Manager, you will be measured on financial and quality goals related to the product.

 

You will work with an engineering counterpart to define product release requirements and with key clients and stakeholders internal and external to  Amazon including: distribution partners, corporate clients, finance, corporate sales, strategic communications, customer service, accounting, retail, seller systems and transaction risk management (fraud). You will work with these groups to assess the competitive market, analyze the business needs, create the product requirements, define the go-to-market strategy, and create go-to-market sales tools, helping them to understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for the product offering, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers. In addition, you will develop, manage and work with key Gift Card distribution partners to grow their Amazon Gift Card business.

 

Core Responsibilities including the following:

 

  • Manage the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.
  • Work with existing and potential partner/vendor relationships (sell-side and buy-side) to grow the Gift Card business.
  • Research and identify opportunities for Amazon to further distinguish its Gift Card offering
  • Establish the product mission, goals and supporting business metrics and indicators for a best in class Gift Card product
  • Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going, intimate knowledge of existing customers and non-customers (prospects and competitors)
  • Drive the Gift Card solution set across stakeholders (primarily Clients, Development/Engineering, Customer Experience, Operations, Sales, Legal/Compliance and Accounting) through market requirements, product requirements and positioning
  • Develop and implement a go-to-market plan, working with all departments and channels to execute
  • Measure and analyze existing products for opportunities to innovate and improve, providing additional benefits to the customers and Amazon.com


Basic Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of software product management/product marketing/business development experience, preferably in a business software, consumer financial services, retail or online services company
  • Possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision as well as the drive and attention to detail that transforms the vision into a reality
  • Enjoy spending time with the clients and other market representatives to understand their problems, and find innovative solutions to grow both Amazons and their businesses
  • Able to communicate well with all areas of the company
  • Knowledgeable in technology development best practices and product management methodology
  • Excellent cross-functional project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong quantitative data analysis and critical thinking skills
  • Bachelor’s degree

  • MBA preferred
