Director, Kindle Device Store – Category Leader
Job Overview:
Kindle is the best selling product in the history of Amazon.com. This critical role will continue to build and grow on that success – leading our U.S. online Kindle device sales business on Amazon.com. He or she will manage all aspects of our online business. As the business owner, this person and his/her team is responsible for
1) Delivering a world class end-to-end website customer experience for customers customer coming to Amazon to learn about and purchase Kindle,
2) Driving online traffic/demand and delivering unit sales growth that hits or exceeds our aggressive sales goals.
This person will lead the online business unit for Kindle devices sales with responsibility for:
- Top Line Unit volume: He or she will be responsibility for delivering on our top line unit volume goals for our online Amazon.com channel. This includes managing and optimizing all online demand generation, including direct email channel, Amazon.com site merchandising, Promotions, SEO, and Associates.
- Website Shopping Experience: This person’s product management team will own the defining and creating a world class customer experience for customers coming to learn about and purchase Kindle devices on Amazon.com. This includes all aspect of the site experience.
- Positioning and Branding: This person and his or her team will work closely with our Kindle Marketing and Design team to ensure we are positioning and messaging all aspects of our Kindle devices online consistently with all our customer touchpoints (Amazon.com, Offline, Mass Advertising, social media, etc) to maximize overall brand value and online sales.
- Product Management: He or she will be responsible for defining the strategic priorities, website features, and project roadmap to ensure we are focused on the right short and long-term projects or programs that will materially drive more unit demand and build competitive moats around our business. He or she will be expected to develop new and innovative programs to accelerate Kindle adoption across our target customers.
- Engineering: He or she will manage and grow an existing engineering team that will deliver on the key projects and programs critical to our continued units sales growth
- Business Intelligence: As the business owner, he or she will own all measurement and metrics for the business. As with all Amazon businesses, we believe in rapidly testing, measuring and then optimizing our approach based on data – with the goal of delivering the best customer experience and maximizing overall sales.
- Customer Service: We believe great customer service is and can continue to be a competitive advantage for our Kindle business. This team is the business owner for all Customer Service related to our Kindle devices. Team sets direction and approval for our Customer Service policies and messaging related to Kindle. Team is responsible for ensuring we are delivering a best in class customer service experience for our Kindle customers. Team will work closely with our dedicated Customer Service organization to identify pain points and deliver solutions that improve the customer experience and in turn reduce customer contacts and costs.

| Basic Qualifications |
- BA/BS and relevant work experience required;
- Expereince running an online e-commerce business -- driving a full P&L, defining and building best-in-class customer experiences, smart pricing, merchandising and targeting, marketing and all aspects of e-commerce retail.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- MBA preferred.
- Candidate should have a passion for the role and the Kindle product, and enthusiasm for team leadership and development. This leader will set the direction for our online business and as such must be able to articulate and advocate initiatives for business and customer experience improvement and work with other teams across Amazon and the Kindle organization to implement new projects that will move the business forward.
- The candidate will exhibit sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others, and strong analytical skills as well as a proven track record of taking ownership, data-driven analysis, and driving results.
- Demonstrated success in working cross-functionally across an organization to deliver new projects and feature innovation that move the business forward. This role will require coordination across engineering, design, marketing and PR teams to drive the business forward.
- Leadership experience attracting, hiring and maintaining top talent
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of presenting to senior level management.
- Must be able to operating successfully in a lean organization and be able to create a vision and organization that can scale rapidly with growing volume.
- Experience in CE industry preferred, but not required.
- Experience owning software development teams ideal, but not required.
