Kindle is Amazon’s revolutionary reading device – our “buy once, read everywhere” approach is vital to the success of the overall Kindle business. We build Kindle apps on mobile, web and desktop platforms worldwide. Millions of customers have downloaded our apps on iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone 7, PC/Mac and most recently the Cloud Reader web app built on HTML5.
As the Director of Kindle Cross-platform, you will lead this fast growing business and be responsible for the Kindle experience across all third party platforms. You will define key business metrics, set audacious goals, and collaborate with internal and external teams to meet and exceed these goals.
Responsibilities:
- Define and deliver the product development roadmap for Kindle apps across all platforms worldwide.
- Hire and develop a world class product and program management team.
- Work closely with engineering and senior leadership, internal and key external partners to define and deliver the product vision.
- Increase insights on user behavior and pain points. Identify, measure, and improve key customer experience metrics. Promote data-based decision making.
- Continually optimize the product and feature roadmap and manage prioritization and trade-offs among customer experience, time-to-market, and operational support load.
- Collaborate with marketing and business development teams on marketing and customer acquisition plans.
- Identify and implement bold bets to significantly improve the digital reading experience.

| Basic Qualifications |
- Demonstrated success in delivering products/services in a high growth environment.
- Leadership role in product development management in consumer software applications.
- BA/BS degree required. MBA preferred.

- Demonstrated success in building and scaling a product management and user experience team, and implementing an iterative product development process.
- Excellent customer experience intuition; demonstrated success in creating innovative and user-friendly software applications and customer-facing features.
- Excellent communication and persuasion skills; demonstrated success building buy-in for an innovative and bold vision.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills; strong bias towards data-based decision making
- Implementation orientation; demonstrated ability to translate strategic differentiators into innovative and detailed product requirements.
- Technical fluency; comfort understanding and discussing architectural concepts, schedule tradeoffs and new opportunities with technical team members.
- Proven ability to make smart feature (customer experience) versus time-to-market trade-offs; experience using data and metrics to back up assumptions and assertions of business value.
- Nimbleness and comfort with ambiguity; comfort responding quickly to rapidly evolving threats and opportunities.
- Strong bias for action; ability to juggle multiple priorities and create a sense of urgency in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Street smarts; willingness to roll up the sleeves and do whatever is necessary to meet team goals.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams through influence versus direct management; excellent interpersonal skills.
