Job Description

We are looking for a product management expert to define a world-class customer experience for Amazon.com's Appstore. As a Senior Product Manager, you will work with our user experience designers and usability experts to define an innovative customer experience, coordinate with the technical team to ensure the requirements are implemented effectively, and partner with business development to establish the necessary external relationships.   This role is inherently cross-functional—you will work closely with engineering, design, operations, finance and executive teams to bring products to market and develop and grow business opportunities for Amazon.com.  A successful candidate will be highly analytical, able to work extremely effectively in a matrix organization, and adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into high quality, simple products and applications that customers love.

As the Senior Product Manager - Amazon Appstore, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Defining a world-class customer experience that bridges the online and mobile channels for selling mobile applications.
  • Translating the customer experience into a logically sequenced and optimized product roadmap
  • Writing complete and detail-oriented product requirements documents and ensuring clear communication of those requirements to the business, design, usability and development teams
  • Maintaining a product and feature roadmap and managing prioritization and trade-offs among customer experience, site performance and operational support load
  • Proactively identifying and resolving strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals
  • Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners
  • Leading cross-functionally to ensure we implement the business vision efficiently

Manage prioritization and trade-offs among customer experience, site performance and operational support

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in Product Management
  • 5+ years total experience in consumer electronics/software/wireless/Internet technologies
  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or engineering, required; an M.B.A. is also desirable
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills (includes ability to use tools such as Excel and Access); ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop project business cases.
  • High attention to detail including precise and effective customer communications and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is needed.
  • History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done.
  • Excellent customer experience intuition; demonstrated success in creating innovative and user-friendly websites and customer-facing features
  • Implementation orientation; demonstrated ability to translate strategic differentiators into innovative and detailed product requirements
  • Technical fluency; comfort understanding and discussing architectural concepts, schedule tradeoffs and new opportunities with technical team members
  • Proven ability to make smart feature (customer experience) versus time-to-market trade-offs; experience using data and metrics to back up assumptions and assertions of business value
  • Nimbleness and comfort with ambiguity; comfort responding quickly to rapidly evolving threats and opportunities
