Amazon.com’s Kindle Store is looking for a sharp, analytical, enthusiastic Sr. Manager, Site Merchandising and Product Management. The right candidate will have proven leadership skills in managing online content production and analyzing customer traffic and purchase data to identify, prioritize, and implement engaging, effective merchandising strategies. The Sr. Manager will drive improvements in the overall look, feel, and navigation of content in the Kindle Store while helping to maintain Kindle’s reputation as the #1 bestselling product on Amazon. Candidates must be successful managing a team and must be obsessed with serving the customer.
The successful candidate will manage a team of editors, site merchandisers, and product managers supporting eBooks, magazines, newspapers, and blogs. This individual will be data driven, detail-oriented, extremely organized and professional, capable of handling multiple projects at once, able to take direction, capable of dealing with ambiguity and rapidly-changing priorities, and comfortable working with cross functional teams, management, and publishers. Specific responsibilities include working with internal and external resources to:
- Drive internal and external traffic to the Kindle Store
- Analyze traffic patterns and optimize for seasonality, relevance, and selection
- Plan, develop, and execute compelling e-mails and merchandising campaigns
- Analyze results of merchandising and traffic efforts
- Plan, develop, and coordinate cross-site sales and events
- Review and drive improvements to customer experience, including search and browse
- Be the product expert and work to drive unit growth by increasing conversion on the homepage and detail pages
- Write strong copy, including irresistible calls-to-action for targeted audiences
- Analyze performance of content and email, always seeking ways to improve
- Work with publishers and vendor managers to create on-brand, best-in-class content
- Drive site improvements to completion by coordinating with project managers, web developers, engineers, designers, and other merchandisers
- Write product/marketing requirements documents (which serve as a bridge from high-level business requirements to the functional specification) and ensure clear communication and coordination of requirements to the business, design and development teams. Requirements should be based on intimate knowledge of the product, space, existing data analysis, current customers and non-customers (prospects and competitors)
