Position Overview The General Manager role is a general manager position with overall responsibility for all aspects of the Author Central product, both tactical and strategic.
You must be able to think big and effectively lead change while simultaneously executing on the day-to-day process and product improvement. We have already launched our beta product and expanded to the UK FR and JP, but we are still at day one -- this is a time to accelerate Author Central to the next level.
In this role, you must be able to strongly engage on a wide range of business issues, quickly make critical decisions based on data and our business principles, effectively communicate with your team, business peers and senior management, then lead your team through the challenging path ahead. This requires a focus on our long-term goals and an unwaveringly passion for delivering excellence to authors.
In this role, you will lead the ongoing yearly planning processes then ensure we hit or exceed our plans. You will be the top owner for both the business and technical roadmap and must always start with our customer and work backwards. You will work closely with Finance, Legal, Tax, Accounting, and HR to ensure all plans are being implemented in compliance with our internal guidelines, budgets and all applicable regulations.
This is a broad role. You will own Product Management, Customer Service, Marketing and Software Development. You define and review the operating business metrics of Author Central, and lead weekly cross-functional meetings to make sure all teams are in sync and meeting their goals.
Author Central functions in a highly matrixed organization and you must be effective in accomplishing your business objectives through partnering with other Amazon teams. You will also need to secure assistance from other Amazon technology and business teams for your large initiatives.
You must be relentlessly focused on ensuring that we hire and develop the best employees. You personally will be responsible for enforcing ongoing topgrading goals which often require tough decisions about raising the employee bar.
Author Central has undergone rapid growth in the past year since launch.
