This position represents an opportunity to take on a leadership role shaping one of the most critical businesses at Microsoft in perhaps our most competitive market.
As General Manager, WWPS Education Strategy, you’ll be on point to act as lead for the strategy team and as part of the Public Sector World Wide Education team, you will be responsible for driving, identifying and supporting Microsoft’s efforts to win in education, compete aggressively for share and support our partners and Microsoft field teams to win.
You’ll be responsible for leading a team of senior business strategy, partner & compete managers. You and your team’s responsibilities will span from driving deep, insightful business analysis to participating across various market execution activities to ensure we are optimized for business and competitive impact. Your team will lead cross-divisional and cross-Microsoft teams to ensure that our business strategy and compete efforts are effectively landing and driving desired results.
In addition to Higher Ed responsibilities, the role will provide field specialization in the K12 segment supporting both our headquarters team with national PC subject matter expertise (1/1 computing) and execution help for our field teams for our largest opportunities and threats.
Through collaborative efforts with Microsoft education stakeholders the General Manager of WWPS Education Strategy will lead all up education messaging, identify and drive field best practices, support the distribution of industry knowledge, and work specifically with the company product and business groups to drive strategy for the Education segment leading to improving share, demonstrating thought leadership and increasing revenue.
As a Microsoft spokesperson, this individual will also be responsible for communicating and demonstrating internally and externally the value of Microsoft’s technologies, solutions and resources, the impact technology can have on institutional effectiveness and the teaching and learning process.
As a conduit between WW Microsoft education field personnel, industry leaders and Microsoft product groups, this individual will also be responsible for supporting the identification and communication of MS solution value propositions for our Education segment.
This is a highly impactful position with global responsibility and we’re looking for someone who is motivated, enthusiastic, driven to succeed, and who has demonstrated the ability to take on big challenges, drive new thinking, work successfully across teams, and demonstrate the ability lead people through ambiguous environments.
Success in this position requires strategic thinking and strong business skills. Initiative, strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team environment are essential. 10+ years of related industry experience in strategic consulting, high tech sales & marketing or education expertise are a plus.
Skills and Experience: • 10+ yrs. experience developing product and business strategies within Microsoft - or like company - either in program management or business/product management roles • Experience developing sales, communications and/or marketing strategies in a software/services business • Experience presenting strategies to senior executive management • Experience with external presentations and comfortable demonstrating technology and products • Experience driving business modeling - e.g. Analysis across all content services/offers • Deep understanding of education customer segments & audiences • Deep understanding of the education industry with regard to content industry including content creators, aggregators, distributors, advertisers, etc… • Strong experience leading senior business, marketing, and/or engineering teams on major impacting projects • Strong cross-group collaboration and team-building skills • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Passion for the customer and driving disruptive change • High-energy self-starter • Ability to build strong partnerships across organizational lines • Leader of positive culture
