Description

As a Software Technical Product Manager, you will contribute in a highly motivated software business unit team. The job extends from increasing the profitability of existing software and hardware products to developing new software products focusing on virtualization and cloud computing. You will build products from existing technology and products, and help to develop new data center products based on your industry experience and your contact with customers, prospects, and channels. To be able to accomplish these tasks you should possess deep technical knowledge on client IT management software dealing in areas like virtualization, cloud computing, automated software distribution, and asset management.

 

You will work closely with engineering to translate business and customer requirements to product features. The candidate needs a complete understanding of, and experience in, applying all elements of software life-cycle, including launch, transition, or end-of-life, through both direct sales and indirect channels. This includes, but is not limited, to conducting training for technical system engineers, and channel partners. The job involves travel to customer and partner sites.

 

The candidate must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You may need to work with an engineering counterpart in Japan and/or third party companies to define product requirements and product specifications. You will work with product marketing to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customers through existing or newly developed business plans and Product Requirement Documents.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Managing entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to EOL of a product line from a technical perspective.

·       Specifying market requirements such as technical features and functions for current and future products by conducting market research supported by customers' feedback from the executive briefing center and following the market trends and competitive software features and functions.

·       Defining user and system centric use case documentation (e.g. UML diagrams, code snippets, mockups, sequence diagrams, example schemas, RFC interpretation, etc.) that describes product behaviors and subsequent user interaction with the cloud computing product. These use cases will require maintenance and updates as customers and market requirements change.

·       Conducting face-to-face training (travel required) and update webinars for field and partners.

 

Qualifications

·       5+ years of experience with data center equipment including Server, FCIP Switches and/or Storage required
·       3+ years experience with data center monitoring and virtualization products.
·       Deep knowledge in server, networking, software development and SAN technologies.
o   in depth knowledge of installing, managing, analyzing and troubleshooting of servers, Hitachi servers experience a plus
o   in depth knowledge of installing, managing, analyzing and troubleshooting of switches, Brocade and Cisco experience a plus
o   in depth knowledge of installing, managing, analyzing and troubleshooting of storage systems, HDS storage systems (Modular & Enterprise) experience a plus
o   in depth knowledge of installing, managing, analyzing and troubleshooting of storage management software, Hitachi Storage Management Suite experience a plus
o   in depth knowledge of installing, configuring, managing and troubleshooting of virtualization software, MS Hyper-V and VMware experience a plus
o   in depth knowledge of installing, managing, analyzing and troubleshooting of SAN hardware and SAN management software
·       Some development experience necessary including development processes, experience in coding, and testing code.
·       Experience with server and client virtualization technologies
·       Experience with Cloud Computing technologies
·       Experience with datacenter applications like Oracle, Exchange is a plus
·       Product management experience is preferred
·       Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering degree or equivalent required
·       Strong Presentation and Communication skills.
·       Experience working with Japanese culture a strong plus.
