The Dynamics Product Planning team is looking for a Senior Product Planner to drive the strategic value proposition and capabilities required for an enterprise customer to move their business workloads and application solutions to the cloud via Microsoft Dynamics. The successful candidate will work closely with customers, partners and industry leading analysts to synthesize a strategic vision for targeted capabilities of our application platform and for leveraging the strengths of the Microsoft technology stack for enterprise customers migrating their business applications to the cloud. Microsoft Dynamics is a key, strategic division for Microsoft - particularly as it relates to paving the way for moving business applications to the cloud. Additional responsibilities include- Develop a customer/partner insight driven product strategy and global scenario/feature roadmap for the Dynamics business applications platform Deliver scenario priorities/definitions along with critical feature requirements into product plans for the application platform (and how it leverages the MS stack) Obtain and validate customer/partner insights regarding critical scenario/feature areas focused on the developer, ISV and IT decision maker Research competitive solutions; drive customer experience studies and manage customer/partner validation engagements (focused on the developer, ISV and IT decision maker) Design/incorporate various routes to market, sales/partner channel requirements and business model factors into product plans Orchestrate the process to facilitate and optimize product/feature trade-off decisions relative to market, customer, and partner requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience driving a product from planning “vision” through the first development milestone. The candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys long-range, strategic thinking, and who can manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive them effectively to completion. Such projects will demand strong working relationships and interactions with customers, senior executives (GMs, CVPs, etc.), technical leaders, and other product & marketing groups within Microsoft. The successful candidate will be able to think strategically about business issues, understand new technologies and their benefits to customers, synthesize large amounts of information into crisp recommendations, present and defend recommendations to a variety of audiences, such as executives, program managers, and developers; and discover and evaluate new business opportunities by creating customer-driven plans backed by solid market and financial analysis. Basic Qualifications: Deep knowledge and understanding of customer, developer, ISV, IT, application/partner ecosystem requirements 10+ years of relevant experience in a large software development organization as a program manager, product planner, product manager, or management consultant Strong analytical aptitude with the creativity, capacity, and conviction to think beyond the norm and drive innovative solutions through complex, global organization Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with internal and external executives Experience delivering results via a complex, geographically distributed and diverse global organization preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, MBA preferred
Additional desirable characteristics of the successful candidate include- Experience defining, specifying, and/or implementing functional requirements for use by an engineering team building a complex, global software product utilizing Scenario Focused Engineering techniques Experience translating mid-market and/or enterprise customer’s user requirements and usage scenarios into product requirements and/or functional specifications for use by a large software engineering team Experience working directly with customers and/or channel partners to identify product functionality requirements and/or functionality gaps that can be used to shape the software product development strategy Hands-on experience defining requirements, managing implementation projects and/or delivering business application and/or ERP solutions to global enterprise and upper midmarket customers Experience driving large, complex market and customer focused research projects designed to inform product design and trade-off decisions
