Job Description

The Position:

As a member of the marketing and product management group, you will be responsible for roadmapping and profitably managing the product lines of boat lifts and accessories through inception to end-of-life.  You will work with marketing, sales, engineering and operations throughout the product creation and launch process and you will be a primary interface to the dealer network for technical and product-related issues and communications.  This position reports to the VP, Marketing and Product Management

 

The primary roles of the Product Marketing Manager fall into the following categories:

 

Develop Product Roadmaps and Specifications

  • Identify new product opportunities and develop make / buy proposals and business plans to support development
  • Create business plans per product and present to senior management
  • Work with sales, operations and engineering to develop product specifications
  • Own and develop the product roadmap for new and existing products
  • Gather product improvement inputs from the field (sales, dealers, customers), evaluate solutions and propose improvement plans for products
  • Determine product pricing and go-to-market strategies

 

Drive the Product Creation Process

  • Guide a cross-functional product team through the product creation process to ensure product specifications are met and product is launched on time and within budgetary constraints
  • Project manage product launch and work with marketing to develop and execute commercial launch strategy
  • Design and run beta test programs for new products

 

Act as Subject Matter Expert and Evangelist for Sunsteam Products

  • Produce dealer product communications, including hands-on training and new product blasts
  • Assist sales and management with business development presentations and business case development for new channels
  • Assist marketing with the development of product-related collateral
  • Train sales force and dealer network on new products, selling strategies and changes to products in the field

 

Sustaining Product Lifecycle Management

  • Track sales data per product and suggest market responses to competitive actions or sales performance
  • Gather and communicate competitive intelligence per product and product line
  • Develop end-of-life or product migration plans for products that no longer make sense for the Sunstream product range.

Desired Skills & Experience

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • MBA preferred
  • 5 to 10 years of technology or consumer product management experience
  • Strong project management skills
  • Keen understanding of the boating world
  • Marine industry experience highly desirable
