One-Day Workshop to Gain Clarity in your Product's Future

You're busy.   Daily demands pull you in every direction to support your product.  So when do you get time to actually think about your product strategically and where it needs it go?  When you do have the time, what should you focus on and how do you get alignment internally?  This on-site workshop is designed to help you.  

Intended for product planning teams who need a clearer picture of where you're heading and why, this hands-on course is an on-site deep dive into your specific products.   The instructor provides the framework and examples in short lecture segments, and then helps the team take it from there in a series of focused, facilitated exercises to get to the heart of your product needs.    

Immediate and long-term results:   By the end of the day, you'll have a short to mid-term draft product roadmap that aligns with your business goals and with specific deliverables and milestones to socialize and gain organizational alignment and commitment.    You'll also have tools to help you put an ongoing planning process into action.  

The concepts learned apply to any development environment, including Agile and Waterfall, and can be tailored to any specific level of planning process desired.   

Who should attend?  Teams of 3 to 8 in size involved in the planning of new products and releases.   These typically include product managers, product owners, director/vp of product, director/vp of development  program managers, development leads, architects, other executives and those who can contribute in a cross-functional view of the market, the product and the business needs.    Best results achieved through a collaborative and decision-oriented series of exercises.

  • Frameworks for understanding, assessing and choosing strategic options for your product
  • Identifying and clarifying your product's value proposition and positioning to your core market segment
  • Developing a 360-degree view of where you are now - the perspective of the market, your customers, and your product performance
  • Generating a priortized list of product gaps based on opportunties and threats aligned to strategic business goals
  • Identifying potential solution options to address the gaps, including scope, effort, timeline and value delivered
  • Developing the implementation proposal to achieving your top goals, including deliverables and resources required and estimated milestones
  • Creating a checklist of next steps required for alignment and approval including validation information required, stakeholder involvement needed, and commitment process steps
  • Formalizing an ongoing process of information gathering, assessment and prioritization to maintain high value projects on your product roadmap
